*Precipitation measured in inches.

The Chisago SWCD in cooperation with the DNR Office of State Climatology and with the assistance of several volunteers, has been measuring rainfall levels throughout Chisago County.  Each participant receives a rain gauge, monthly forms to record daily rainfall, and envelopes to submit monthly reports. Additionally each participant receives an annual report from the Climatology Office. This report includes the data that the participants turned in for the year.

There are thirteen volunteers who record the daily rainfall (and snowfall during the winter) on a monthly report along with any other interesting weather facts. These reports are collected by the SWCD, copies are kept on file, while the originals are sent to the State Climatology office at the University of Minnesota for further recording and long-term research. Thank you to all the volunteers: Teresa Bosman, John Kay, Della Nelson, Phillip Ostby, Allan Jarchow, Russell Danson, Glenn Mell, Harold Nelson, Jason Bennett, Gary Norton, Joe Mattson, Joe Schwaab and Katherine Swenson.

If you are interested in obtaining any of the daily precipitation data from the State Climatology office, you can click on to the Internet and find it at:  http://climate.umn.edu/   or  http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/waters/index.html
