ØApproximately 3,000 square feet were turned into a rain garden at Water Tower Park and Playground in Chisago City.  On Saturday, September 6th, 40+ volunteers arrived to plant 2,600 Native plant plugs and 35 Trees and Shrubs.  The Rain Garden helps to filter the runoff from the parking lot and sidewalks before the water enters a channel and heads to Walmark lake which is on the Minnesota Impaired Waters List.
ØPartners for the project include: Great River Greening, Chisago City, Chisago SWCD, and IMPACK 6 JPB

Streambank stabilizations pictured above on the North Branch of the Sunrise River runs along approximately 130 feet of shore.  This project which included re-grading the bank, placing rock rip rap, and planting native shrubs and plants to stabilize the shore and prevent further erosion.  The project below is on the main stem of the Sunrise River, this project included adding cedar revetments to the shoreline instead of rock, this is a more natural solution to prevent shoreline erosion from the moving water.  The project below also incorporated native plants, trees, and shrubs, as well as including a rain garden to slow water movement down the slope.
